Children who are electively educated, at home, have this experience for a myriad of reasons. For some, it is to do with Special Educational Needs; for others, it is to escape a toxic environment; for many, it is simply that the education system, for whatever reason, doesn't 'fit' them (rather than they do not fit it!).
Whatever your reasons for home-educating your child, we are here to help. Our sessions (we definitely don't call them 'lessons') are fun and engaging, ensuring that the learner is right at the centre of the time we have together. Yes, we have learning objectives and continuous, informal assessment, but we never make it obvious to our learners - there is no need to build stress into their days! Instead, we take their hobbies and interests to build a curriculum that engages and excites them; we use our decades of experience to find and introduce new areas of passion and interest; we work with the learner, rather than expecting them to work for us!
With interactive learning experiences; video-game style activities; custom-made resources and a whole host more, we help to alleviate the stress and worry that both parents/guardians and their children can feel.
We offer 1:1 or small group sessions (maximum of 4 learners) for learners of all ages and experiences - from the Early Years and developing a knowledge and love of phonics and numbers, to GCSE/iGCSE pupils who want to be able to choose their texts, poems and pace.
With competitive price plans to suit all budgets; group and individual tuition available, the BES Home Education Hub is here to help you relax and enjoy the experience of educating your child at home.

From letter sounds to digraphs and trigraphs, these sessions use interactive games, videos and songs to teach the building blocks of language.
Using Learn Screens, some friendly competition and a lot of laughter, these sessions aim to use phonetic knowledge to read words, sentences and different genres of texts. We also look at making meaning from the texts, through quick comprehension quizzes and lots of interaction between learners.
From encouraging reluctant writers, to stretching and challenging the next Dickens or Brontë, these sessions give our learners the opportunity to put pen to paper, and to turn keystrokes into masterstrokes!
From knowing times tables, to reading timetables, these sessions are aimed at ensuring that our learners can use and apply mathematics to everyday situations. Singing, wacky dancing and lots of colourful games help captivate our young mathematicians.
These “forgotten” years of education are, arguably, the years in which the most fundamental skills are cultivated. With no exam pressure looming, this group has the flexibility to choose from a vast range of texts to explore, play with and enjoy. From autobiographical writing to creating a media campaign to launch a chocolate bar, our learners love these sessions and find them useful and fun.
With so many GCSE and IGCSE exam boards available, these sessions focus on the skills that appear across all. We identify language features, techniques and applications to stimulate conversation and formal writing that explains the authorial intentions and how well these have been realised.
We study Lord of the Flies; Macbeth; A Christmas Carol; An Inspector Calls, and 'Power and Conflict' Poetry to ensure our learners can access the vast majority of exam boards. We explore the social and historical contexts of each, tease out original and contemporary responses, and use texts, translations, videos and a range of other sources to ensure that each text is accessible.
This House believes...
Suitable for 10–14-year-old learners, this club aims to develop reasoning, arguing and conversational skills. Using current affairs to keep the sessions relevant, we present arguments; chair debates and vote to see how the future generations view the problems of the day.
From De Bono and his hats, to Bloom’s Taxonomy, we use supportive frameworks to help our young learners to consider historic and contemporary problems. Acting less like a lesson and more like a think tank’, this session is ideal for 10-14-year-old learners who want to exercise the grey matter!
